We booked the Villa Malpensa as a convenience to leave out of Malpensa airport the next morning. It looked like a beautiful old villa (which it is) that would be more special than the typical "airport hotel". First problem: We were booked and confirmed a "nonsmoking" room. The room was definitely a smoking room with the ashtray and the smell there as evidence. When I mentioned this to the front desk, no "I'm sorry" or any move to remedy. Restaurant food was very good, but the most expensive food we'd had and you are pretty much a captive audience. The service was abhorrent with one regular customer who knew the staff leaving because he couldn't wait anymore! However, the event next door was apparently #1 priority for the waitstaff as we saw them taking trays of food past us out the door to deliver next door. Waitstaff was extremely rude. Courses delivered incorrectly (appetizer delivered with one, not both, of the main courses). Coffee at the breakfast buffet (adequate) was burned. Stay anywhere else but here!
