This hotel is perfectly adequate for what you're likely to need it for - a place to catch some sleep before flying out of Malpensa first thing in the morning. The room was clean and functional - but utterly devoid of character. The location is about 10 minutes from the airport by road. I took the bus from the train station in Milan to the airport, and the hotel shuttle picked me up promptly when I called. The front desk clerk was exceptionally rude and unkind, refusing to help me print my boarding pass, and then when I wanted to go to the airport earlier than I had originally booked due to that problem, he curtly informed me that the shuttle was full, so I ended up having to go a full hour earlier than I would have liked. (When you're traveling 19 hours, every bit counts! I should have just called a taxi, I suppose.) The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. I asked whether there were any restaurants within walking distance, but supposedly there weren't. Instead they send the guests to this one restaurant with whom they apparently have an arrangement (the restaurant picks you up by car), where the atmosphere was sterile, the menu uninteresting, and the food mediocre and overpriced. The hotel breakfast (included in room rate) was the most comprehensive I saw in Italy (cereal, meats, eggs, mass-produced pastry), but decidedly un-delicious and un-Italian. In case you can't tell, I really hated this hotel, but then again, I did make my flight! If I had it to do over (other than staying somewhere else!) I would have been happier if I had eaten in Milan and spent as little time as possible at the Hotel Cardano.
